About Us
Mission:
East Coast Racer exists for a single purpose and that is to share with our visitors the best quality in photo and video coverage of automotive related events. We travel the full length of the east coast of the United States to bring you coverage you would not get anywhere else.
Origins:
East Coast Racer was initially thought up by Matt Blasi in late 2006 as a solution to his frustrations. So many sites out there want to fill their sites with article after article about every little detail in an attempt to make you understand what happened but for the most part they left out the largest key element – the visuals. ECR is a way to solve that, it brings the photographic and video coverage of the industry to the top of the list in importance, and lets you see for yourself what happened and what was there.
Through out 2007 and 2008 Matt, with the help of friends and fellow enthusiasts was able to not only use his experience in web design and strategy to design and build the site but populate it with quality meaningful content. Not just the large shows, not just typical drag racing and drifting but the events that we feel need just as much notice. Focus was put on the industry as a whole, no event was too small, no event was out of reach.
In May of 2008 ECR turned into the complete group it is today and went from the design board and pieces of paper to the site it is now, finally launching in June 2008 and building through the recent months to provide more and more content.
Future:
We intend to grow, not just in members but in content and providers. We want to build a group of photographers and video producers to the point that we never miss an event. We want to have photographers in all areas of the US, and around the globe so that we are covering everything everyone wants to see. Now yes we are very aware that this is an amazingly high goal and it will not happen over night, but this is what we are dedicated to.
In 2009 we hope to cover some of the major races in the US and bring them to the attention of the younger generations including such series as Grand Am Racing, American LeMans Series, Arca and HSCRA NASCAR.
Our first milestones have been hit with the strategy, design, build and launch of the site. Our next goal, successfully cover more events a year on the east coast than anyone has covered to before. If this is a goal you would like to see yourself part of then please check out our JOBs page and follow the instructions there to contact us.
