Fiskers – The Sport and Luxury Hybrid

This year at the DC Auto Show I was taken in by a car that puts the Tesla Roadster to complete and uter SHAME.  This car is the 2009 Fisker Karma, the world's first luxury hybrid sedan.  Designed and built by Fisker Automotive in Irvine California.  A completely eco friendly sedan with zero emissions, built in eco-friendly facilities.  With a total range of over 300 miles, and a total cost under $115,000.00 the car is priced better, functionally better and styled better than its competition in all markets.

Fully charged the Karma will go the first 50 miles on it's Q-Drive powertrain, if you need to go further the car will operate as an EREV (extended range electric vehicle) with an efficient gas engine producing 403hp.  With this combination the car is able to produce a fuel economy ot 100mpg.  Get that out of any Aston Martin or Maserati on the market.

With all of this the Fisker Karma still comes with front, side and knee airbags, traction cotrol, anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC).  It also includes electro-hydrolic brake boost unit with integral chassis control functions.  Fully blended electric regenerative brake combined with friction braking and an electronically actuated parking brake.
