Andy and I were given the opportunity to attend the Invite Only - Cadillac Performance Driving Experience event at Monticello Motor Club in New York. This gave us a chance to not only get our hands on a CTS and an XLR-V and see how well they handled the track but the highlight was the opportunity to unleash the Cadillac CTS-V, Cadillac's all new and completely improved version of the CTS which packs over 550hp and dominated on the Ring. Not only did the BMW M3 fall to this American beast, but the M3's big brother the 500hp M5 also succumb to defeat. With the Cadillac CTS-V being half the price of the M5, having just as much room and luxury, and better performance, well.....I think BMW better step up because this could hurt lol.
Anyway, we had a great time, with walkthroughs by Andy Pilgrim (Cadillact Team Racecar Driver) we headed out to the track on a we and soggy day. Now some people asked why go racing in the rain and well, Andy P had the best response of the day - "Why Not?". The fact is the new CTS-V at even 120+mph breaking hard on a wet track did not break loose one bit. In tight turns she did not slide, and on quick full throttle shifts she did not get sideways. The simple matter is, this car is amazingly intuitive, fun to drive and at the top of it's class.
